Air transport is extremely recognized as one of the most used means of transport on a global scale. This prominence is largely due to its efficiency and reach, but it also implies the need for rigorous and comprehensive regulation. In Brazil, this regulatory complexity is exemplified by the Brazilian Operational Safety Program (PSO-BR), an operational safety management model that seeks to improve regulatory and administrative capacity in the aeronautical sector. To ensure the adherence of private institutions to conditional regulations, it is essential to implement effective risk management mechanisms and compliance programs. These instruments ensure that companies in the sector are in compliance with current regulations, in addition to offering tools to identify, evaluate and mitigate potential dangers and their respective consequences. Given this, this article sought, firstly, to discuss compliance and risk management; secondly, highlight the collaboration of PSO, ANAC and COMAER (DECEA) to promote operational excellence in Brazilian aviation; and, finally, risk management and compliance as a way of promoting operational safety in the aeronautical field.
